An Indecent Proposal

Kate and I are now engaged. I’ve been planning to propose for a very long time, but unfortunately love and money are mutually exclusive. Originally I wanted to do it during the winter when it was snowing, but that didn’t work out. My next option was the rose garden that’s in the park near our apartment. Thus began my mission to fool Kate at every turn.

In order to trick Kate into thinking I actually liked flowers (seriously, flowers?) I suggested we walk through the rose garden every now and then so that it wouldn’t seem out of character. I also ramped up walks through the park in general to let her think I liked fresh air and cared about being healthy. I originally wanted to make reservations at a very nice French restaurant in Boston, but I knew that would seem so extravagant that my cover would be blown. I decided on a very nice Italian restaurant that we’ve been to a couple times, and with that the plan was in motion.

We walked around the rose garden and then sat on a bench. The actual proposal was probably the most awkward moment in our relationship since our first kiss because the entire time I was thinking, “she must know I’m about to do this and she’s just sitting and waiting for me to get on with it.” I held her hand with my right hand while my left hand concealed the ring (the magician’s proposal). I cupped the top of her hand with my ring hiding hand and let the ring drop onto the top of her hand. I then I asked her to marry me and revealed the ring. She said, “yes.”

I have to read this site again. Did you read a victorian novel? It’s all so quaint yet romantic. Sounds like you did a lot of research on how to propose! we all need to see you both more. you are so close yet so far away

    Love and kisses
